Once upon a time there was a girl named Freya who was a senior in High School. She grew up in a small town and lived in a house with her little sister, Thalia who was in 5th grade, and her parents. Freya’s daily routine was pretty simple: ate breakfast with the family, picked up lunch at the local deli, dropped her sister off at school, then went to her school, and hung out with friends after. Everyday she did this going through the same routine over and over again just counting down the days until she graduated and moved away for college. Until one morning she didn’t see her parents for breakfast, assuming her parents went to run an errand she made cereal for her sister and herself and got in the car. Starting the engine she noticed that her parents car was still in the driveway. Confused Freya asked, “Thalia do you know where mom and dad are?” With a mouth full of cheerios she replied, “No. Try calling them,” and returned to eating her cereal. Freya dialed her mom's number but it went straight to voicemail, “Dang it mom forgot to charge her phone last night.” In another attempt she called her dad but after a few rings it went to voicemail. Frustrated Freya started to drive, “Whatever, I’ll call again later we’re going to be late.”
After a five minute drive Freya parked on the side of the curb in front of the Deli. She got out of the car breathing in the crisp morning air but noticed it didn’t smell the way it usually does. Walking toward the front door of the Deli Freya reached to open the door until she realized it was locked. “That’s weird they’re always open by the time I come,” Freya said to herself. So she walked back to the car, started the engine, and drove off. “How come you didn’t get any food?” Thalia asked, “Because they were closed. Didn’t you see me trying to open the locked door?” “Oh that’s weird they’re always open.” “Yeah that’s what I said.” Freya stopped in front of Thalia’s school noticing that all the kids were still waiting for the school to unlock the doors which would’ve been open by now. Not really giving it a second thought Freya dropped her sister off and drove to her high school. She parked her car at the school parking lot in her usual spot and grabbed her backpack locking the door behind her. She walked towards her friend, Amy, who was standing at the front of the school with a group of seniors. Seeing the disoriented look on Amy’s face Freya asked, “What’s wrong did something bad happen?” Amy replied, “Did you see your parents this morning or the old man at the deli you always go to?” “No I didn’t. Which is weird. Why did something bad happen to them.” “Well the other seniors and I were talking about how none of us saw our parents and how none of the businesses were open today and we think that anyone who’s 19 or older disappeared because we haven’t seen any adults, and Brian turned 19 two days ago and is nowhere to be found.” “Really Amy do you hear yourself how would that even be possible?” “I don’t know how it would be possible. But think about it, that’s the only explanation for all the missing people. Was there any adults at your little sister’s school? You should call and check in on her.” Rethinking the morning over Freya started to think that it could be plausible, so she grabbed her phone out of her bag. Looking at her screen she saw five missed calls from Thalia two minutes ago. Then her phone started to ring and Freya quickly answered. “Hello, Thalia? Are you okay?” “Yes I’m okay I’ve been trying to call you for the longest time! Can you come pick me up the school is still closed and my friends were picked up by their siblings or just walked home because there’s no one at school.” “Okay wait at the front of the school I’ll be there in ten minutes.” Ever since that day no one knew why or where the adults disappeared to, so the seniors had the responsibility to keep the town in order because if they didn’t then who will?

1. How did you feel on the first day of school compared to how you feel today? What things have contributed to any changes in the way you feel?
On the first day of school I felt excited to being apart of a team that would be creating rockets and now, 3 weeks later, I feel successful for creating a balsa rocket and still excited to be creating a bigger rocket that would fly up to 1,000 ft into the air. 2. If you could build a third Balsa rocket, what would you do differently and why? If I were able to create a third Balsa rocket I would take my time on gluing the body because there was space in between the panels of the rocket. 3. After watching some other students’ films, what themes or common traits have you noticed? Something I noticed in other people's films that are very common is background music. The music in each is different but add character to the film 4. Is there something you saw in someone else’s film, that you wish you would have done in yours? What was it? Something I saw in someone else's films that I wish I had in mine was certain angles they used to capture the video. I didn't really think about angles when filming so next time I will have that in mind while recording. 5. Do you see value in being able to create a film about your work? Why or why not? I do see value in creating film about my work because I'll be able to work on skills that would be useful in the future like documentation, editing skills, and artistic skill when it comes to filming. 6. What are a few things you plan to do differently on your next film and why? Something I plan on doing differently next time I create a film is capturing more moments so I wouldn't be missing anything and really thinking about angles and what would look better in a film to tell a better story. Hi! My name is Kayla Jimenez and I’m in the graduating class of 2019. I was born January 5th 2001 at Sharp Hospital in San Diego, California. My mom is from Cambodia and my dad is from Mexico. Technically I’m an only child but both my parents had children before me so in total I have six sisters and 3 brothers plus there is a huge age gap between me and my siblings. The second youngest child in the family is 22 years old which is 7 years older than me and the oldest is 36 which is 21 years older than me. Yeah.... my parents are old. Other than talking about my family I like to do a number of things. I’m currently on a swim team and the school’s volleyball team which means practice almost everyday. But on my free time I like to play my piano and ukulele or draw in my sketchbook. I’m excited for this upcoming project. I never really thought about rockets or how the motor works and what not but now that I’m hearing it from my teachers I can’t wait to experience the exploring, building and testing that will be taking place in the project.
