Black Powder Fueled RocketsDuring the beginning portion of my first semester as a sophomore the class was split into groups of four to build a rocket. My group consisted of Jacquelyn Robles, Brandon Banuelos and Isaac Zamora. Creating the rocket was a long process; making the body, the black powder engine, and recovery system. Throughout this project I was able to attain "rocket science" knowledge by calculating its thrust before and after its launch. This was my first time creating a rocket and engine with black powder fuel. It was a privilege to be apart of the first class to deal with chemicals and make engines for the rockets. Once rockets were completed as a group we went to Fiesta Island. our rocket launched about 1,000 feet into the air.
