Throughout this project we went on many water based field trips. Such as snorkeling in La Jolla, testing water in the San Diego Bay, exploring the San Diego River, fishing in Chollas Lake, touring in NASSCO Shipyards, and walking along the Coronado shoreline. During each of these field trips not only did I enjoy it with friends but I was able to learn something new on every trip we went on. While on these field trips we always took a moment to sit down and write down any questions we had because later on we had to choose a question that we would look deeper into and gather research about that would then be used in our final product for exhibition.

People have a lot of wonderings and for this project I wondered why San Diego dredged the bay. With that wondering in mind I then created a Just Wondering booklet that told a story of what I wonder about as a child and how my perspective changed as I grew and learned more about my community. We used a computer application which was InDesign to help format our booklet. I used Adobe Illistrater and Photoshop to create the images used in my booklet to help tell the story a little better.

My partner, Brandon Banuelos, and I's final product was about dredging, landfill and its effects on the environment. We wanted to know how and why San Diego dredged the bay. As we were walking along Coronado during one of our water based field trips I was shocked because before that point I didn't know we were on land fill. Our research that was collected from online articles showed that dredging the bay attracted international business helping the economy, but we didn't realize that by doing so changes its natural look and harms the environment. Through this project I was able to learn more about my city and a little history on the things we did to build up the economy. To the left is my partner and I's Discovery Box which consists of various components from our different classes.
